The Dieppe Raid is now called the Tour des Trois Vallées. The 2024 event takes place on 29th and 30th of June.

The event is a set of cycle routes organised by Cyclo-Club Dieppois on the roads and lanes of the countryside in and around Dieppe, offering various distances (from 30 to 140 km) to suit both families as well as keen club cyclists. A walk is generally offered for non-cyclists. With the exception of 2020 and 2021, when the event was unavoidably cancelled due to Covid, the event has been held every year.

The event was started in 1972 by our own Neville Chanin. He was a well-known British cyclist who traveled widely throughout the world by bicycle. It was established in commemoration of the infamous Dieppe Raid of 1942 where our Canadian allies suffered such terrible losses. To learn more about the history of the Tour de Trois Vallées visit.

Courses:

There will be four cycling rides to choose from: 30km, 60 km, 100 km and 140 km.
Children under 12 have free entry to the event but need to be entered using Eventbrite as this will enable them to be considered for an award. Please omit their payment and advise this in the Additional Information box

For 2024 DFDS are again offering a 20% discount to all our cyclists on the Newhaven-Dieppe ferries on the following sailings:
Friday, 28 June, Newhaven-Dieppe (9h30 departure). – 40 bicycles
Saturday, 29 June, Newhaven-Dieppe (9h30 departure) – 80 bicycles
Monday, 1 July, Dieppe-Newhaven (12h departure) – 120 bicycles

Please note: this discount is ONLY for passengers with bicycles. All other passengers must book in the normal way either online or by phone.

The idea is for us to travel on the Saturday morning ferry, if we organise some car sharing we can save money and minimise parking issues.

It will be two nights in the hotel, returning on Monday. It’s an excellent family run hotel. We can organise room sharing to reduce costs.

The routes are mainly rolling terrain, some long but not very climbs followed by long descents. All under big sky’s.

We will be eating in harbourside restaurants that offer great food.
