At sign-on\, you choose a distance and target time and try to complete the course in (as close as possible to) the chosen time for that ride. \nAs well as EW members\, the ride is open to all local cycling clubs and anyone else who would like to join in. A walk is generally offered for non-cyclists. With the exception of 2020 and 2021\, when the event was unavoidably cancelled due to Covid\, the event has been held every year. \nThe event was started in 1972 by our own Neville Chanin. He was a well-known British cyclist who traveled widely throughout the world by bicycle. It was established in commemoration of the infamous Dieppe Raid of 1942 where our Canadian allies suffered such terrible losses.
