I arrived at Malvern for a 9.30 am start. The hills looked wet even though it was only drizzling. For the start deciding what to wear was a problem – boil in the bag top?
I thought I’d try to go with the A run, first mistake of the day. We set off at a good pace with everyone chatting, but I was busy trying to breathe let alone chat! I had planned to stay in the middle of the pack as I had been given advice not to drop off the back. After a few miles and arriving at a junction, there was dispute in which direction to take which meant that I had actually fallen to the back of the group and shortly there was an increasing gap and off they went into the distance. I stopped to look at the map and the rest of the group came so I joined them, however, kept falling on and off the back of the group all the way to
Bredon & Tewkesbury until on the hill out I was finally left behind, with only 3 others for company, all the way back to HQ where I received my certificate to say that I had complete
52 miles in 3 hrs.
