National MTB Race - Thetford 2007
|
Andy Dolphin and Steve MacGrath went to their first National MTB race of 2007
at Thetford. After starting at the back of the 50k group (don't ask!) they made their way through the field. Andy had a tangle with a tree inside the first mile but got back on is bike. The course was flat and fast with technical singletrack in the forest and fire road. Steve came in with a time of 2 hours 20 min in 11th place out of 35 in the 50k men's vet cat. Andy came in with a time of 2 hours 28 min in 61st place out of 112 in the 50k men's cat. |

Hell of the North Cotswolds (HONC) 2007
Waiting to start
Seven members of Evesham Wheelers took part in this year's HONC: Martin Hall and Ray Hemming opting for the full 100k, coming in with times of 5 and 5 and a half hours respectively. Steve MacGrath, Andy Dolphin, Jess Hemming, Tony Canning and Dave Newbould opting for the 50k route (knowing full well just how tough the 100k couse is - Ray confirmed that the climbs at the end were a bit mean!)
Once again the organisers made full use of the extensive bridleway network in the Cotswolds which were very dry and dusty - a stark contrast with last year which saw riders pummelled with hail and sleet!
All in all, it was a great event!

Just the beginning!
